Conversationof the Day...

While driving Kourtney to school this morning, she started talking to me about orphanages (she's always very concerned about all the orphan babies).

Kourtney: Mom, can we go to an orphanage and buy a kid?
Me: You can't buy kids honey, you can adopt them, but you don't actually buy them.
Kourtney: Why? Are they too much money... is it because we can't afford it?
Me: Ummmm, no sweetie, you just aren't allowed to buy people. Why are you asking?
Kourtney: I want another sister.
Me: really? You don't want a brother?
Kourtney: No. I don't like boys.

The entire conversation made me smile... one thing I can say I've done well as a mother is to teach my children to really care about other people. Orphans hold a special place in their heart for 2 reasons: We bought christmas presents for children at an orphanage one year, and they watch the movie Annie! I have a feeling she'll ask me again if we can "buy" an orphan!!
